## Why Clubs Choose Ledger & Fields

#### Get club-specific expertise from day one.

We understand reciprocal revenue, tennis pro compensation allocation, and member billing complexities across multiple departments. This isn't accounting work we learned from textbooks. It's expertise we built from working inside clubs.

#### Structural continuity, not individual dependency.

When your controller takes vacation, your accounting doesn't stop. When someone leaves, month-end close doesn't get delayed. A team handles what used to fall to one person.

#### Internal controls that actually exist.

Single-person departments can't have real segregation of duties—the same person reconciles and reports, processes and approves. We provide structural separation: different people handle reconciliation and reporting, processing and approval, billing and collection.

#### Transparency without managing the details.

Monthly packages arrive in your format, on schedule, with explanatory commentary. Board questions get answered on the spot. Audit preparation doesn't consume your staff's bandwidth.

### When oversight falls behind

A controller role mismatch went undetected for more than six months. This case study shows how neglected cash reconciliations, misstated payables, and weak reporting can quietly build into a larger finance problem.

### When trust replaces verification

This case study walks through some of the control failures that allowed one manager to influence payments, billing, payroll, and reporting without enough independent review or oversight inside a private country club.

### When the generalist steps back

This case study explores what changed when a longtime CFO moved to part-time support, and the club no longer had enough internal capacity to keep full-cycle accounting and leadership reporting moving smoothly.

## What Clubs Frequently Ask

#### What size clubs do you work with?

Clubs managing 300+ members with annual revenue exceeding $4 million.

#### What happens to our current accounting staff?

That depends on your preference. Some clubs retain staff for on-site tasks. Some transition staff to other roles. Some reduce headcount through attrition. We work with whatever decision makes sense for your club.

#### How quickly can you start?

Implementation begins on your scheduled onboarding date,  and takes 60–90 days. Ongoing service begins once implementation is complete.

#### What if our board has questions?

We present to finance committees or full boards. Most GMs find the conversation straightforward once the engagement is framed as risk mitigation and governance improvement.

#### What can we expect for costs

Plan on a similar rate to a full-time controller position, less vacation, health insurance, and 401k.

#### What club software do you work in?

We are currently working in Northstar, Jonas, Club Essentials, and QuickBooks Online.

#### What if we don't run our club on one of the above software?

We can review your current system and assess our ability to support you on that software.

## Start with The Fields Score™

#### Have questions about your club's finances?

You're in the right place. Whether you're trying to make sense of your current setup, evaluating your options, or just want a second opinion—we're happy to talk. No pressure, no pitch.
